About Decoding Art
Decoding Art is a professional arts consultancy working at the intersection of creative practice, business strategy, and cultural operations.
Founded by Jessica Svenningson, Decoding Art draws on experience across galleries, institutions, artist-led initiatives, and cultural programs.
The work is practical, systems-focused, and grounded in real-world constraints — particularly in remote and northern contexts.
My Story
Jessica Svenningson is an arts professional and consultant working at the intersection of creative practice, operations, and cultural infrastructure.
She brings 15 years of experience across gallery management, exhibition production, artist support, and arts-led initiatives, with a background spanning artist-run centres, cultural institutions, museums, commercial galleries, and independent consulting. Her work focuses on translating artistic vision into practical systems — from strategy and planning to governance, logistics, and long-term sustainability.
Jessica is a Caucasian, European settler who has been living and working in the Yukon since June 2024. Decoding Art was founded in response to recurring challenges faced by artists and cultural organizations in northern and remote contexts — particularly the lack of accessible, credible business and operational support tailored to local realities.
Through Decoding Art and the Artrepreneur program, she works to support Yukon-based artists, institutions, and arts-led initiatives in building sustainable structures that allow creative work to thrive without burnout, precarity, or unnecessary friction.
